OpenAI Experiences Outage, Users Reporting Login Issues with ChatGPT
If you had plans to use ChatGPT for finding the best Amazon Prime Day deals, you may need to look for alternative chatbots as OpenAI is currently facing an outage. Users have been encountering difficulties logging into ChatGPT, with some experiencing an “Error Access denied” message.
To address this issue, the error page states, “To protect the requested service, this request has been blocked or was unable to complete for other reasons.” Moreover, this login problem is also affecting access to OpenAI’s image generator DALL-E 2, which utilizes the same account system.

OpenAI has yet to respond to requests for comment. However, the company’s system performance tracking website acknowledges the presence of an “Elevated error rate for ChatGPT logins” detected at 7:56 a.m. PST. The site adds that they are currently investigating the issue [source].
In addition, Downdetector [source] reports that the outage was first observed at 6 a.m. PST, with the number of reports increasing by the minute.

This outage coincides with a decrease in site traffic. Despite this, ChatGPT remains one of the most popular internet services. Consequently, the problem has led to numerous complaints, particularly as ChatGPT is utilized as a valuable work tool for writing projects and coursework. One user lamented, “I need this to do work for my internship” [source].
Alternative Chatbots and Workarounds
While OpenAI’s ChatGPT is experiencing difficulties, users can turn to Microsoft’s Bing Chat, which is based on the same technology. Bing Chat remains operational and appears unaffected by the outage. Alternatively, users can consider Google’s chatbot, Bard, although account access is required for both options.
